Methylene chloride, which is an organic compound.

Methylene chloride, an organic compound with the chemical formula CH2Cl2, is a colorless transparent liquid with a pungent odor similar to ether. It is slightly soluble in water, ethanol and ether. Under normal conditions, it is a non-combustible solvent with low boiling point. When its vapor becomes high concentration in high temperature air, it will generate weakly burning mixed gas, which is commonly used to replace flammable petroleum ether, ether, etc.

Properties: Pure methylene chloride has no flash point. Solvents containing equal volumes of dichloromethane and gasoline, solvent naphtha or toluene are not flammable. However, when dichloromethane is mixed with acetone or methyl Chemicalbook alcohol liquid in 10: 1 ratio mixing, the mixture has a flash point, vapor and air to form an explosive mixture, explosion limit 6.2% ~ 15.0% (volume).

APPLICATION:

1. Used for grain fumigation and refrigeration of low pressure refrigerator and air conditioning unit.

2, Used as solvent, extractant, mutagenic agent.

3, Used in the electronics industry. Commonly used as a cleaning agent to remove oil.

4, Used as dental local anesthetic, refrigerant, fire extinguishing agent, metal surface coating cleaning and degreasing agent.

5, Used as an intermediate in organic synthesis.

Preparation method:

1. Natural gas chlorination process Natural gas reacts with chlorine gas. After hydrochloric acid produced by hydrogen chloride is absorbed by water, the residual trace hydrogen chloride is removed with lye, and the finished product is obtained through drying, compression, condensation and distillation.

2. Chloromethane and chloromethane reacted with chlorine gas under 4000kW light to produce dichloromethane, which was finished by alkali washing, compression, condensation, drying and rectification. The main byproduct is trichloromethane.

Security:

1. Precautions for operation: Avoid fog drops during operation, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Avoid releasing steam and fog droplets into the air of the work area. Operate in a specific area with good ventilation and take the minimum amount. Emergency response equipment should be available at all times to fight fires and deal with spills. Empty storage containers may still contain hazardous residues. Do not operate in the vicinity of welding, flame, or hot surfaces.

2. Storage precautions: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place without direct sunlight. Store away from heat source, flame and incompatibilities such as strong oxidant, strong acid and nitric acid. Store in a properly labeled container. Unused containers and empty drums should be tightly covered. Avoid damage to the container and inspect the tank regularly for defects such as breakage or spills. Containers are lined with galvanized or Phenolic resin to reduce the possibility of decomposition of methylene chloride. Limited storage. Post warning signs where appropriate. The storage area should be separated from the staff intensive work area and restricted access to the area. Use plastic pipes that are designated for use with substances to discharge toxic substances. The material could build up static electricity which could cause combustion. Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place away from direct sunlight.

3. Packaging and transportation: Use galvanized iron barrels to be closed, 250kg per barrel, train tanker, car can be transported. It should be stored in a cold, dark, dry, well ventilated place, pay attention to moisture.
